3. Funeral program: Maurice W. Mosely was born April 17, 1896 in Dover, Delaware, the son of Elisha and Georgianna Carney Mosely (sic). Mr. Mosely served in the United States Army in World War I being discharged in 1919.

Mr. Mosely came to New Jersey more than 50 years ago. He was employed by Owen Illinois Glass Factory, retiring in 1965, and Bridgeton Dye and Finishing Company for seven years between the years of 1970 - 1977 before completely retiring to lead a peaceful work-free life.

He was married to the late Sadie Mosely and from that union one daughter, Clarice Mosely Loatman, was born. Mr. & Mrs. Mosely and Clarice were pillers of St. John United Methodist Church, being members before and after the addition to the present building. He was a staunch Christian, attending and serving his church joyfully for more than 50 years.

Though Mr. Mosely was failing in health a few years, he bore his illness well.

He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Clarice Loatman; five grandsons Richard, Michael, Jesse, Robert, Phillip, a granddaughter Sadie, and a great-granddaughter Shannon, a niece, Sophie Gould of Bridgeton; two nephews Clifford and Richard Seeney of Delaware and many relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Richard Loatman, Michael Loatman, Jesse Loatman, Robert Loatman, Phillip Loatman, Luther Pierce, Sr.


Maurice W. (Mike) Mosley

Maurice W. Mosley (Mike) 85, of 750 E. Commerce St. Bridgeton, died Thursday at his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Mosley was born in Dover, Del., and had been an area resident for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church of Fordville.

He retired from Owens-Illinois in 1965 and had also been employed by Bridgeton Dye and Finishing Co. for seven years as a security guard. He was a veteran of World War I serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clarice Loatman of Bridgeton, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. from the St. John United Methodist Church, Fordville, with the Rev. Nyada Clarke officiating. Interment will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Fordville Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are by the Lively Funeral Home.

DOVER - William S. White Jr. of Dover and formerly of Frederica died Monday, April 27, 1998, in the Capital Health Care Center, Dover. He was 85.

Mr. White was born 1912, in Philadelphia, the son of the late William S. White Sr. and Ella Mosley White.

He was an Army captain during World War II.

After leaving the military, Mr. White was employed by Holland's Restaurant and Catering in Philadelphia. When in Delaware, he worked for Sears & Roebuck, where he was a serviceman, warehouse manager and a salesman in the furniture department.

He is survived by a son, Carey A. White of West Simsbury, Conn.; two daughters, Sidney W. Bacon of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Jean Harrison of Philadelphia; a brother, Horace White of Milford; a nephew, Horace White Jr. of New Hope, Pa.; and two granddaughters, Linden and Merrin.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Reed and Bradford streets, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in John Wesley A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Thompsonville.

MILFORD _ Reginald Mosley Sr, 76, of R.D. 2, died Thursday in Milford Memorial Hospital of cancer.

Mr. Mosley retired as a farmer. He was a lifelong resident of Milford Neck.

His first wife, Addie, died in 1945. He is survived by his wife, Doris H.; three sons, Horace of Philadelphia, Franklin of Wilmington and Reginald Jr. of Grafton, Va.; two daughters, Phyllis Rhodes of Glen Riddle, Pa., and Kristy Pritchett of Milford; three brothers, Vernon Horace and Samuel, both of Milford and Hirschel of Dover; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in John Wesley Church, near Frederica, where friends may call after 1. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

MILFORD - H. Vernon Mosley of Milford died Monday, March 13, 2000, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 87. Mr. Mosley was born on Aug. 17, 1912, the son of the late Horace and Margaret Mosley.

He was a self-employed agriculture and dairy farmer, owning two farms and caring for several other farms between Milford and Houston. He enjoyed hunting and was well-known for his hunting and his dogs. Mr. Mosley attended the Church of Christ Church on Governors Avenue in Dover.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ella Mae Mosley; a son, Douglas V. Mosley of South Bowers; two brothers, Samuel G. Mosley of South Bowers and Herschel Mosley of Bridgeton, N.J.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, downtown location, 61 South Bradford St. in Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, Cheswold.

She lived in the Milford area most of her life.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Dover. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Larry Mosley and Ar­nold Mosley.

She is survived by her hus­band of 58 years, Samuel Mosley; three daughters, Marion Harmon of Baltimore, Brenda Pepka of Baltimore Commons and Laura Sullivan of Milford; one brother, Col­ice Hall of Ahoskie, N C.; two sisters, Nina Robinson of Raleigh, NC., and Ella Mae Mosley of Milford; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

UPPER DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The Rev. Hirschel Alton Mosley of Upper Deerfield Township, N.J., formerly of the Milford-Dover, Del. area, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in his home. He was 78.

The Rev. Mosley had been in failing health for the past four years and was been at his present address for two years.

He was born Nov. 26, 1922, in Milford, youngest of four sons born to the late Horace V. Mosley and Margaret Seeney Mosley.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the Asian Theater.

He was called to preach God's Ministry in March, 1951 and served in Delaware and New Jersey as pastor of several churches until his retirement in November of 1987. He built a new church in Fair Haven, N.J., and his ministry in South Jersey. He retired to Delaware after 35 year of ministry.

The Rev. Mosley was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Milton, for many years and was made an Honorary member of his Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Reginald and H. Vernon Mosley.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hilda Mosley; a son, Charles Mosley and his wife, Sarah, of Felton; two daughters, Patricia Mosley Durham and her husband, Perry, of Bridgeton, N.J., and Cynthia Mosley Carney and her husband, Stephen, of Fayettville, N.C.; a brother, Samuel G. Mosley of Milford; a sister-in-law, Ella Mae Mosley of Milford, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and his church family and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Torbert Funeral Chapel 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.

She graduated from Delaware State College Laboratory High School in 1929.
Mrs. Mosley was a homemaker.

She was a member of John Wesley United Church in Milford Neck.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Mosley Sr., in 1973.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria M. "Punch" Hart of Milford; a son, Elmer L. Mosley Jr. of Harve De Grace, Md.; five grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, William Pierce of Dover; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Wharton of Albany, Ore.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at John Wesley United Church, Milford Neck, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. Yvonne Brunson will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
