3. Perry W. Carter1. Obituary (note by John Carter: from an Elmer, N.J. newspaper): Perry W. Carter, 64, of 1508 Sharon Place, San Mateo, California, died suddenly August 11, 1995 at home following a brief illness.
Mr. Carter was born in Fairfield Township to the late Hopewell and Lethia Carter. He was raised in the Elmer area and attended Monroeville Grammar School and was a 1949 graduate of Woodstown High School.
He was a teacher/counselor with the San Leandro Unified School District, a USMC veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion Post #82 of San Mateo, San Mateo Elks Lodge #1112 B.P.O.E. and San Mateo Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, Eugenia; a son, Perry Carter; daughters, Kathleen Harkins and Janet Carter; a grandson, Patrick Harkins; a sister, Evelyn Schroeder; brothers, John Carter and Donald Carter. He was predeceased by a brother, Leory Carter in 1982.
Funeral services were held August 15 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, San Mateo, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, Califorma.

Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Friends may call at the Mortuary after 11 a.m. on Monday. Contributions to St. Timothy's Scholarship Fund or Serra High School Athletic Fund, 451 West 20th Ave, San Mateo pref.

John Clayton Carter, 67, formerly of Bridgeton, died march 16 in Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs, Col.
Born in Greenwich Township, son of the late Hopewell and Lethia Coker Carter, and husband of the late Christine Harris Carter, he grew up and attended schools in the Elmer area.
A U.S. Air Force veteran., serving from 1952 to 1956, he was a member of the American Legion Colorado Springs Post 5.
Surviving are two sons, John Cyrus of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Jim Curtis of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Donald L. of Bridgeton a sister, Evelyn Schroeder of Pittsgrove Township; a grandson; and two step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Leroy A. and Perry W.
Services were held March 21 in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Col.

John Clayton Carter, 67, passes away at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado on March 16, 2000. Born in Greenwich, Cumberland County, New Jersey, on November 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Hopewell and Lethia Hariett Coker Carter, being the middle of five children.
On January 18, 1952 he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, served for four years, and was honorable discharged with the rank of Airman 1st class on January 17, 1956.
On January 11, 1958 in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey, he was united in marriage to Christine Harris, daughter of Mont Washington Harris and Ruby Lewallen Harris of Boone County, West Virginia.
A year or so after the birth of their first son John in Dover, Delaware, he and his new family moved to southern California, his having developed a fondness for the area during his Air Force service, having been stationed for a time at March Air Force Base in Riverside.
During the years in southern California, a second son Jim was born in Riverside, California. In the summer of 1970, the family visited friends in northeastern New Mexico who'd recently relocated there from southern California, and, desiring to move out of the city and into a small-town area, John & his family followed suit and moved to Raton, New Mexico in the summer of 1971.
While the sons grew up and went away to school or moved out on their own, John & Christine remained in Raton until 1989, and later ventured to Tonopah, Arizona and back to Boone County, West Virginia. His wife Christine passed away in Boone County on December 3, 1996. John resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1990 until his passing.
He was pre-deceased by his brothers Leroy A. In 1982, and Perry W. In 1995. He is survived his two sons, John Cyrus of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Jim Curtis of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one brother, Donald L. of Bridgeton, N.J., a sister, S. Evelyn Schroeder of Pittsgrove N.J., one grandson Cameron James of Huntington Beach, CA, one daughter-in-law, two step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
An avid treasure hunter all his life, he never gave up his search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
