DOVER - Mildred Helen ''Millie'' Sammons of Dover died Monday, Sept. 13,
1999, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 53. Mrs. Sammons was born
on Sept. 23, 1945, the daughter of Franklin and Mildred Collins Foraker.

She worked as a nursing attendent at the Delaware Home for the Chronically
Ill, Smyrna, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Sammons loved to collect angels.

She is survived by her husband, Glendon M. Sammons Sr. of Dover; two sons,
Glendon Sammons Jr. and William Sammons, both of Dover; two daughters,
Mazie Krammer and her husband, Todd, of Magnolia, and Sarah Sammons of Dover; two grandsons, Jason Foraker and Will Krammer, both of Magnolia; and three
granddaughters, Kaylinn Rodriquez of Marydel, Md., Paige Kramer and Mandy
Kramer, both of Dover.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Union Methodist Church,
Cheswold, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial will be
in the church cemetery. Instead of flowers, family suggests contributions
to: American Heart Association, 625 South State St., Dover, DE 19901.

1. Carolyn Mae Carney, 57

DOVER - Carolyn Mae Carney of Dover died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 57.

Carolyn was born Feb. 20, 1943 in Dover, the daughter of Sarah E. Sammons and the late Perry W. Sammons Sr.

Mrs. Carney worked for Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna for 30 years, and also part-time for State Cleaning and Maintenance for eight years. She retired due to illness in 1997.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed crafting plastic canvas. After her retirement, she loved spending time with her mother.

Mrs. Carney was a lifetime member of Immanuel Union United Methodist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Carney, Jr., who died in January 1974; and her brother, Perry W. Sammons Jr.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her two daughters, Melissa "Missy" C. Carney, Crystal "Sissy" A. Carlisle, and her husband, Bill; and a son, James "Bucky" H. Carney III; two granddaughters, Kristina Nicole and Brittney Mae Carlisle; a special godson, "Jo Jo" Joseph M. Seeney, and his wife, Kathi; a brother, Glendon M. Sammons; two sisters and their husbands, Betty M. and Joseph "Joey" Seeney and Carmella and Wayne Stanton; 10 special nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews; and two very special lifetime fiends, Ricky May and Arlena "Pinky" Coker.

Services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, Bishops Corner, where friends may call two hours prior to the services.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 309, Cheswold, DE 19936; Delaware Chapter Alzheimers Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805; or Delaware Hospice, Central Division, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

NANTICOKE LENAPE CENTER members were saddened to hear that Carolyn Mae (Sammons) Carney of Cheswold, Del. passed away on New Year's Day surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Eunice Ridgway Sammons and the late Perry W. Sammons Sr.

Carolyn worked at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna for 30 years, and part time for State Cleaning and Maintenance for 8 years, retiring due to illness in 1997. Carolyn was a lifetime member of Immanuel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa "Missy" Carney and Crystal "Sissy" Carlisle; a son, James "Bucky" H. Carney III; two granddaughters, Kristina Nicole and Brittney May Carlisle; a brother, Glendon Sammons; two sisters, Betty Seeney and Carmella Stanton; ten nieces and nephews, and four great_nieces and nephews; plus a host of other relatives living in the South Jersey area.

She was predeceased by her husband, James H. Carney Jr. in 1974, and a brother, Perry W. Sammons Jr.

A private burial was held at Immanuel United Methodist Church on Jan. 5.

Mr. Ridgway was born Dec. 17, 1954, in Dover, son of Elizabeth Glendora Ridgway and the late Lawrence M. Ridgway. He worked 10 years as an assistant to Dr. Moffitt at the Brenford Animal Hospital and also for Eddie Davis and family helping train and care for their harness horses. His loves included his family, horses and the Minnesota Vikings. Mr. Ridgway was raised in Forest Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dover. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence "Sonny" Ridgway, in 1987; and his grandparents, Mike and Caroline Ridgway and Horace and Sarah Durham. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Glendora Ridgway; his stepfather, Floyd Durham of Dover; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Michelle and Douglas Boone, and Kelly and Jason Bitter, all of Millington, Md.; two granddaughters, Krystal Boone and Sara Bitter; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Remembrance services will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Instead of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, Community Service Building, 100 W. 10th St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
