CHESWOLD - Smith O. Seeney Sr. of Cheswold died of lung cancer Friday, July 11, 1997, in Kent General Hospital. He was 64.
Mr. Seeney was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Dover, the son of the late Earnest H. and Margaret J. Durham Seeney.
He helped his father farm and was also a self-employed contractor until retiring in 1995.
Mr. Seeney was an avid race fan and loved attending races and enjoyed going to Spence’s Bazaar every Tuesday and Friday.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Brainard Seeney “Ducky’’ Seeney and Ernest Seeney Jr., who both died in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred “Winnie” Seeney of Cheswold; a son, Smith Seeney Jr. of Cheswold; a daughter, Margaret “Sissy” Seeney of Cheswold; two stepsons, Anthony and Michael Ridgeway, both of Cheswold; two stepdaughters, Dolores Marie Ridgeway of Dover and Lillian Ridgeway, of Hartly; three brothers, William Seeney, Donald Seeney and Wilson Earl Seeney, all of Dover; five sisters, Marie Hand of Magnolia, Dorothy Mosley of Cheswold, Edith Ridgeway of Townsend, Leanna Nuce of Florida, and Margaret Joan Daniels of Dover; an uncle, Leroy Durham of Dover; an aunt, Gladys Morris of Dover; three granddaughters, 10 step grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, including three special friends, Charles Coker, Junior Tigner, and Walt Nelson, all of Dover.

Mr. Mosley was born in Lower Penns Neck Township, Salem County and was the son of the late David and Mary Ridgeway Mosley. He had been a Bridgeton resident for most of his life.
Retired since June, 2002, he had been employed with the Tri County Community Action Agency for 17 years. Prior to that he had worked as a machinist with the Kassow Co. for 23 years.
He was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe, Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and especially archery.
Survivors include; his wife Cynthia Skalski Mosley; one daughter, Arthalinda Dale Pierce and her husband, Leroy, Pittsgrove Township; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Mosley and his wife Danielle, Fairfield Township and Allen D. Mosley, Commercial Township; four step-sons, Felix Wilks, California, Ray Wilks, Bridgeton, Michael Wilks, Philadelphia, PA, and Eddie Wilks, Bridgeton; three step-daughters, Helen Wilks, Ohio, Cindy Wilks and Mary Wilks, both of Bridgeton; one brother, Forrest Mosley, Smyrna, DE; two sisters, Velma Loatman, Greenwich and Charlotte Coward, Fairfield Township; six grandchildren, Beverly Pierce, Ashley Mosley, Arieonna Connerton Mosley, Adora Mosley, Marc Terron and Allie Jade Mosley; one great granddaughter, Savannah Payne. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 12:00 o'clock Noon in the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. Friends will be received Friday evening between 5:00 and 8:00 o'clock at the funeral home and Saturday morning one hour prior to the services. 3. James E. Mosley Sr., 80CHESWOLD - James E. Mosley Sr. of Cheswold died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in Christiana Care Hospital, Newark. He was 80.
Mr. Mosley was born on May 4, 1919, the son of the late Josephine Durham. He served in the U.S. Army for four years as an MP.
Mr. Mosley worked for W.L. Wheatley's in Clayton, M.A. Hartnett in Dover and Wyoming Block, where he retired due to his health.
He enjoyed high school wrestling and baseball, especially the Phillies. Several years ago he was manager and coach of the Dover Little League. Mr. Mosley was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the deacon board and enjoyed singing in the choir.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Carter, William Carter and Carlton Carter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Mosley of Cheswold; a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Sam Carney of Cheswold; two sons and their wives, James and Sherren Mosley Jr. and George and Wanda Mosley, all of Cheswold; two sisters, Annabelle Carney and Maude Mae Seeney, both of Dover; 10 grandchildren, Wanda Carney, Lisa Ridgeway, Tammy Durham, Shadina Mosley, Tanisha Seeney, Andy Carney, George Mosley Jr., Derrick Mosley, Christopher Ridgeway and Shawn Ridgeway; 12 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Wayne, Kayla, Kristen, Ronnie, Charon, Lauren, Krystal, Robert, Ryan, Erica and Nicky; and a host of nieces, nephews and Central Baptist Church family.

Burns Prove Fatal: Accident Victim Dies.
A fiery automobile accident Saturday night which immediately took the life of a young woman, claimed its second victim Wednesday night.
Mrs. Gladys Pierce, 59, of Gouldtown-Fairton Road, died in Bridgeton Hospital at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday as a result of burns over 60 per cent of her body suffered in the accident.
Mrs. Angela Gail Carney, 19, who resided at Tips Trailer Park, died in the flaming car.
According to police reports, the two women were riding in a car which was struck from behind on Route 49 in Gouldtown, coming to rest on its roof against the Gouldtown Fire Hall, where it burst into flames. Carl T. McCoy, 27, of West Virginia, the driver of the car which struck the one in which the women were riding, was lodged in the county jail after treatment at Bridgeton Hospital for cuts of the chin and mouth.
McCoy is charged with driving while impaired by alcohol, having no drivers license and taking a car without the owners permission.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Blackbird, Del., the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Durham Ridgway, and was the wife of William H. Pierce who passed away in 1961. She had been employed at the Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville.
The deceased was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gouldtown Fire Department and a member of the Young Peoples Progressive Club, Gouldtown.
Surviving are a son-in-law, Ephraim Mosley, Jr., of Bridgeton; two grandchildren; three brothers, Felix T. of Bridgeton, Manford N. of RD 7, and Tilghman D. Ridgway of RD 4; two sisters, Mrs. Elias Pierce of Bridgeton and Mrs. Margaret Durham of RD 7 and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church, Fordville, and the pastor, the Rev. Adolphus A. Berry, will conduct the funeral services Saturday at 8 p.m. from the church. Interment will be Sunday morning at 9:30 at the Gouldtown Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family Saturday from 7 to 8 prior to the service at the church.

She was a passenger in a car driven by her aunt, Mrs. Gladys Ridgeway, when it was struck from behind, driving it into the Gouldtown Firehouse where it became engulfed in flames.
Mrs. Carney was the former Gail Pritchett of Dover. She was a 1969 graduate of Dover High School and married William B. Carney on Nov. 15, 1969.
Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Pritchett of Dover, four brothers, Warren Jr. of Dover, Ronald, Bruce and Gordon, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Janice Mosley of Milford, Sheree and Nina, both at home; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Pritchett of Dover.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lively Funeral Home, Bridgetown and on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Union Methodist Church, Cheswold. Interment will be in Little Union Cemetery.
