DOVER - Arbana Birdella "Birdie" Ridgeway Newhard of Dover died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in Silver Lake Nursing Home. She was 67.

Mrs. Newhard was born June 9, 1937, in Cheswold, daughter of the late James Edward Davis and Margaret Ridgeway. She was raised by Lola and Forrest Seeney.

She worked as a restaurant cook.

She enjoyed baking cakes, cooking, crafts and dancing.

Mrs. Newhard was a member of the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin Ridgeway Jr.

Mrs. Newhard is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Chris and Peggy Ridgeway, Robert and Judie Ridgeway, and Benjamin Ridgeway III, all of Dover; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Deborah D. Ridgeway and Jackie Johnson, Margaret A. and Norman Carney, all of Cheswold, and Anita and Luther Sammons of Dover; 12 grandchildren, Christopher A. Ridgeway, Robert B. Ridgeway, Christopher J. Ridgeway, Shawn Ridgeway, Gordon Ridgeway, Jennifer Ridgeway, Aaron Sammons, Luther B. Sammons, Kyle Sammons, David Carney, Megan Johnson and Billy Johnson; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sarah Seeney of Milford, Janice Seeney of Cheswold, Karen Seeney of New Jersey and Nancy Bryant of California; four brothers, Anthony Seeney and Walter Seeney, both of Dover, Richard Seeney of Cheswold and Gerald Seeney of Texas; a host of nieces and nephews; a close friend, Teresa Ridgeway of Magnolia; and a goddaughter, Teri Ridgeway.

Services were in Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, Main Street, Cheswold.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

7. Benjamin F. Ridgeway, Jr. of Cheswold, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1983, at the Delaware Division of the Wilmington Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was 51.

Mr. Ridgeway was a former employee of the Marvel Construction Co. of Dover. He is survived by his wife, Birdella Ridgeway of Cheswold; four sons, Christopher Ridgeway and Benjamin III of Cheswold, Robert Ridgeway of Dover and Larry Ridgeway of Chesapeake City, MD; three daughters, Debra Ridgeway and Annette Ridgeway of Cheswold, and Anita Sammons of Cheswold; his mother Dorothy Ridgeway of Smyrna; four brothers, Charles Ridgeway of Rising Sun, Anthony Ridgeway of Townsend, Floyd Ridgeway of Marydel, Md., and Raymond Ridgeway of Smyrna; four sisters, Betty Garnett of Elkton, Md., Mary Garnett of Smyrna, Annette Ridgeway of Cheswold and Leona Morris of Dover; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be today at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Cheswold. Burial will be in the church's adjoining cemetery.

Joan Elizabeth Casey age 55 of Elkton, MD formerly of Wilmington died Friday, February 23, 2001 due to inflammatory breast cancer at home.

Mrs. Casey was born September 13, 1945 in Henderson, NV to the late Robert N. and Anna E. (Wilson) Davis. She was employed as a Marketing Communications Manager for DuPont Zodiaq. She was also a member of the Dover Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a kind, generous and inspiring woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, landscaping her yard, traveling and her work.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Casey of Elkton; 2 sons, Tucker Casey of Wilmington, Matthew Casey of Newark; 1 daughter, Kelly Weibling and her husband, Richard of Hartly; 1 brother, Robert H. Davis and his wife, Barbara of Middletown; 2 sisters, Elaine Blackwell of Newark, Catherine O. Moore and her husband, Sam of Hartly; 2 grandchildren, Madison Elizabeth Weibling and Rachael Lee Weibling, both of Hartly; 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lebanon Road, Dover. Interment will be in the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold.
