Mrs. Effie L. Carney, 89, widow of James Carney, died Sunday, 15 Jan 1967. Survived by two daughters Mrs. Rebecca Coker, Dover, Del, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Cheswold, Del, two sons Norace Carney, Dover, Del, Clarence Carney, Dover, Del, two brothers, William H. Reed, Dover, Del, James Leslie Reed, Dover, Del, 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 3 gggrandchildren. Torbert Funeral Home, burial Manship.


5. Obituary: Norace Carney

Norace Carney, of 2165 N. Du Pont Highway, died Thursday, March 3, 1983, after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was 71. Mr. Carney retired Jan. 1 after working many years as a truck driver for Lowe's Lumber Co. in Dover. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy W.D.; a daughter, Colette Wheatley, and a brother, Clarence, both of Dover, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Bradford and Reed streets. Burial will be in Immanuel Union Cemetery, Cheswold.


6. Obituary: Norace Carney, 71, of N. DuPont Highway, Dover, Del., died March 3 in Dover. A retired trucker with Lowes Lumber Company of Dover, Mr. Carney was a veteran of World War 2.

Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy, W.D. Carney; a daughter, Colette Wheatley; and a granddaughter and a brother, Clarence Carney, all of Dover. Numerous other relatives reside in this area.

Services will be held from the Torbert Funeral Home, Bradford and Reed Street, Dover on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening from 7-9. Interment will be made in Immanuel Union Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold, Del.

5. Obituary: Dorothy Winona Durham Carney

DOVER - Dorothy W.D. Carney, 74, of Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover, formerly of 2165 N. Du Pont Highway, Dover, died Saturday of respiratory failure at the home, where she was a recent resident. Mrs. Carney was a teacher in Capitol School District for several years and specialized in reading. She retired in 1977.

She was a member of the Peoples Church of Dover. She also was a member of the Delaware State, Capitol and National Education Associations. Mrs. Carney was a member of' the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Dover Modem Maturity Center. Her husband, Norace, died in 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Colette Wheatley of Dover; three brothers, Floyd Durham of Dover, Donald Durham of Panama City, Fla., and Warren Durham of Deptford, N.J.; two sisters, Corinne Dean and Cleo Coker, both of Dover; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Torbert Funeral Chapel, Reed and Bradford streets, Dover. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in Immanuel Union Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold.
