George B. Johnson or George E. Johnson?
from Stacie Ricketts (brwneyedndngirl@yahoo.com) 4 Oct 2006

I talked with my mother today.. and what I believe has happened is that the 'B' was a typo on (George E. Johnson's) legal documents and it was never changed. The reason is that he was George Jr. and also he had an old screen door with his full name on the front of his house. He lived right down the road from us. I went to their house millions of times. I confirmed this with my mom and she also said his middle name was Edward. His son we called 'Ski bo' and/or Elic, was named after his father. So I guess for the sake of correct documentation perhaps you can make a note about the actual and the legal. I can see how they could record a B instead of an E.

Documentation citing 'George B' --

Indian River Hundred, Christ Church Cemetery, NE corner of Hollymount Rd and Beaverdam Rd -- JOHNSON, George B on stone with Rosa M b 08/12/1900, d 11/24/1982

Information provided by the couple for their marriage certificate --

Delaware marriage cert. #372 1923 -- George B. Johnson, age 22, to Rosa Mae Morris, age 16. First marriage for both. Both born DE. George parents -- George & Emeline Johnson. Rosa's parents -- Edward & Emma Dell Morris.

Helen Juanita Johnson Day, 81 -- LEWES - Helen Juanita Johnson Day of Lewes died Friday, Feb 7, 2003, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. She was 81. Mrs. Day was born Dec. 9, 1921, in the Lewes area, daughter of the late Rosa Mae Morris and George B. Johnson.

Does any one have other documentation which would clarify George's middle name?
