Rose Ridgeway says: "...I met a lady in Phila. one day who told me that she was 14 years old when her brother Hariam Hansley married my Aunt Hannah. The lady's name was Miriam Hansley Smith, daug. of Nehemiah Hansley and Amanda Sammons. I was able to take pictures of her parents at the time, from photos she had hanging on the wall...."

Tina Marie Hansley says: "...My great grandfather, William Andress Hansley (b.1/11/1880, d.12/28/1942. Roman Catholic) was reputed to be full blooded Lenape. He was born to Ephraim (Ephrain, Ephron?) Hansley and Amanda Sammons in Kent or Sussex Co., DE. He came from a large family. Some of his siblings were, Milton, Lyman and Miriam. Lyman was a very tall man, possibly in excess of 7 ft. tall. He registered in DE. for WWI. Unfortunately, he died as a young man after being hit by a car. It is believed he was traveling to visit my great grandfather in Montgomery or Bucks Co., PA.

"Miriam, married a man of color by the last name of Smith. They had two children, a boy, William (Bill) and a girl, Marian. Aunt Miriam was reported to be active in Lenape/Indian activities. It's reputed that at one point, she was 'Indian Mother of the year'. She died in New Jersey, approximately 10-15 yrs. ago. My grandfather moved to the Norristown/Whitpain Township, Montgomery Co., PA area in the late 1890's-early 1900's. He married my great-grandmother, Louisa Bond Undercuffler 9/22/1906. In the early years of their marriage, in addition to Whitpain Twp. and Norristown, Montgomery Co.,PA, they also resided in Lumberville and Doylestown, Bucks Co.,PA. They had 7 surviving children."
